Avian Influenza

 

1. Lithuania Reports One Outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 in Wild Birds  

On January 5, Lithuania reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in wild birds in Kaunas County, resulting in the death of one wild bird.  

 

2. Bulgaria Reports Two Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 in Poultry  

On January 5 and 6, Bulgaria reported two outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in poultry in two locations, including Plovdiv Province. A total of 1,653 poultry died from the infection, and 89,000 were culled.  

 

3. Slovenia Reports Three Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 in Wild Birds  

On January 5, 6, and 7, Slovenia reported three outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in wild birds in three locations, including the Savinja District. Ten wild birds died from the infection.  

 

4. Poland Reports Seven Outbreaks in Wild Birds and 13 Outbreaks in Poultry of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1  

On January 5, 7, and 8, Poland reported seven outbreaks in wild birds and 13 outbreaks in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 across six locations, including the Pomeranian Voivodeship. A total of 126 wild birds and free-range poultry were infected, with 67 deaths. Additionally, 1.244 million poultry were infected, 9,392 died, and 102,000 were culled.  

 

5. France Reports Four Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 in Poultry  

On January 5 and 6, France reported four outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in poultry across four locations, including the Nord Department. Sixty-six poultry died from the infection, and 14,000 were culled.  

 

6. The United States Reports One Outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 in Dairy Cows  

On January 5, the United States reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in dairy cows in Wisconsin, infecting multiple cows.  

 

7. The United States Reports One Outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5 in Wild Birds  

On January 5, the United States reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5 in wild birds in Washington State, leading to the culling of 53 free-range poultry.  

 

8. The United States Reports Six Outbreaks in Poultry and One Outbreak in Wild Birds of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1  

On January 5, the United States reported six outbreaks in poultry and one outbreak in wild birds of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 across four locations, including Indiana. A total of 470 poultry died from the infection, and 96,000 were culled. Several wild birds also died from the infection.  

 

9. The Netherlands Reports Five Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 in Wild Birds  

On January 5 and 6, the Netherlands reported five outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in wild birds across four locations, including South Holland Province. Eight wild birds died from the infection, and 30 were culled.  

 

10. Germany Reports 191 Outbreaks in Wild Birds and Three Outbreaks in Poultry of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1  

From January 5 to 7, Germany reported 191 outbreaks in wild birds and three outbreaks in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 across four locations, including Saxony. A total of 225 wild birds and free-range poultry were infected, with 202 deaths and 53 culled. Additionally, 992 poultry were infected, 838 died, and 44,000 were culled.  

 

11. India Reports 11 Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 in Poultry  

On January 5, India reported 11 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in poultry in Kerala. A total of 54,000 poultry died from the infection, and 30,000 were culled.  

 

12. Italy Reports Two Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5 in Wild Birds  

On January 5, Italy reported two outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5 in wild birds across two locations, including the Veneto Region. Three wild birds died from the infection.  

 

13. Hungary Reports Two Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 in Poultry  

On January 6, Hungary reported two outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in poultry in Csongrád County, resulting in the deaths of multiple poultry.  

 

14. Israel Reports One Outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 in Poultry  

On January 6, Israel reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in poultry in the Northern District. Ninety poultry died from the infection, and 1,910 were culled.  

 

15. The Czech Republic Reports Four Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 in Wild Birds  

On January 6 and 9, the Czech Republic reported four outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in wild birds across three locations, including the Central Bohemian Region. Nineteen wild birds and free-range poultry were infected, with 18 deaths and 35 culled.  

 

16. The United Kingdom Reports 77 Outbreaks in Wild Birds and Six Outbreaks in Poultry of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1  

On January 6, 7, and 9, the United Kingdom reported 77 outbreaks in wild birds and six outbreaks in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 across two locations, including England. A total of 612 wild birds and free-range poultry were infected, with 121 deaths. Additionally, 13,000 poultry were infected, and 5,918 died.  

 

17. Switzerland Reports Seven Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 in Wild Birds  

On January 7, Switzerland reported seven outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in wild birds across four locations, including the Thurgau Canton. Eight wild birds died from the infection.  

 

18. Japan Reports Three Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 in Poultry  

On January 7 and 8, Japan reported three outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in poultry across three locations, including Kyoto City. A total of 151 poultry died from the infection, and 1.899 million were culled.  

 

19. Spain Reports One Outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 in Wild Birds  

On January 8, Spain reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in wild birds in the Aragon Autonomous Community, resulting in the death of one wild bird.  

 

20. The Philippines Reports One Outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5 in Poultry  

On January 9, the Philippines reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5 in poultry in South Davao Province. Five poultry were infected, and 1,951 were culled.  

 

21. The Philippines Reports Seven Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 in Poultry  

On January 9, the Philippines reported seven outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in poultry in South Cotabato Province. A total of 12,000 poultry died from the infection, and 124,000 were culled.  

 

22. The Philippines Reports Two Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N8 in Poultry  

On January 9, the Philippines reported two outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N8 in poultry in South Cotabato Province. A total of 1,016 poultry died from the infection, and 962 were culled.  

 

23. Sweden Reports One Outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 in Wild Birds  

On January 9, Sweden reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in wild birds in Sj?bo Municipality, Sk?ne County, resulting in the death of one wild bird.  

 

24. Denmark Reports 21 Outbreaks in Wild Birds and One Outbreak in Poultry of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1  

On January 9, Denmark reported 21 outbreaks in wild birds and one outbreak in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 across five locations, including Helsing?r Municipality. Twenty-five wild birds died from the infection. Additionally, seven poultry died from the infection, and 12 were culled.  

 

25. Belgium Reports Two Outbreaks in Wild Birds and One Outbreak in Poultry of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1  

On January 9, Belgium reported two outbreaks in wild birds and one outbreak in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 across two locations, including the Walloon Region. Two wild birds died from the infection. Additionally, 11,000 poultry were infected, 40 died, and 57,000 were culled.  

 

26. Colombia Reports One Outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 in Wild Birds  

On January 5, Colombia reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in wild birds in Sucre Department. One wild bird was infected, and 35 were culled.

1. Poland Reports Five Outbreaks of Newcastle Disease  

On January 5 and 8, Poland reported five outbreaks of Newcastle disease across three locations, including the Masovian Voivodeship. A total of 664,000 poultry were infected, 4,472 died, and 1.469 million were culled.  

 

2. Spain Reports Four Outbreaks of Newcastle Disease  

On January 7, Spain reported four outbreaks of Newcastle disease in the Valencian Community. A total of 28,000 poultry were infected, 27,000 died, and 53,000 were culled.  

 

3. Brazil Reports One Outbreak of Swine Fever  

On January 5, Brazil reported one outbreak of swine fever in Piauí State. Fifty-six domestic pigs were infected, and 32 died.  

 

4. Japan Reports 167 Outbreaks of Swine Fever in Wild Boars  

On January 9, Japan reported 167 outbreaks of swine fever in wild boars across eight locations, including Miyazaki Prefecture. A total of 466 wild boars were infected, 98 died, and 368 were culled.  

 

5. Poland Reports Six Outbreaks of Bluetongue Virus Serotype 3  

On January 5 and 8, Poland reported six outbreaks of bluetongue virus serotype 3 across three locations, including the Greater Poland Voivodeship. Twelve cattle were infected.  

 

6. The United Kingdom Reports Seven Outbreaks of Bluetongue Virus Serotype 3  

On January 5 and 9, the United Kingdom reported seven outbreaks of bluetongue virus serotype 3 across two locations, including England. Fifteen cattle were infected, and one was culled.  

 

7. Tunisia Reports 15 Outbreaks of Bluetongue Disease  

On January 6, Tunisia reported 15 outbreaks of bluetongue disease (four serotype 8 and 11 serotype 5) across five locations, including Ariana Governorate. Fifty-six sheep were infected, and 15 died.  

 

8. Mexico Reports Two Outbreaks of New World Screwworm 

On January 8, Mexico reported two outbreaks of New World screwworm in two locations, including Nuevo León State. Two cattle were infected.  

 

9. Croatia Reports Two Outbreaks of Peste des Petits Ruminants  

On January 5 and 9, Croatia reported two outbreaks of peste des petits ruminants in two locations, including Zadar County. Two sheep and three goats were infected, and 102 animals were culled.  

 

10. Hungary Reports One Outbreak of Pseudorabies  

On January 6, Hungary reported one outbreak of pseudorabies in Somogy County. Sixty-five domestic pigs were infected.  

 

11. France Reports One Outbreak of Lumpy Skin Disease  

On January 5, France reported one outbreak of lumpy skin disease in Ariège Department, Occitanie Region. One cow was infected.  

 

12. Eswatini Reports Six Outbreaks of Foot-and-Mouth Disease  

On January 7, Eswatini reported six outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease (three SAT1 and three SAT2) across two locations, including the Manzini Region. Fifty-seven cattle were infected.
